HYDERABAD: CBI officials, who are investigating the cases of irregularities that took place in post offices after demonetisation of high-value currency, have taken prime accused K Sudheer Babu, former postal officer, into five-day custody for questioning following court orders.
Sudheer Babu, an Indian Postal Service officer of the 2011 batch, was working as senior superintendent of post offices, Hyderabad City Division, colluded with some individuals to help them exchange demonetised currency notes.
Sudheer Babu allegedly had links with law student Nithin and businessman Narasimha Reddy. Some businessmen also benefited from him by getting huge cash in 2000-rupee denomination notes.
CBI registered cases in connection with the fraud detected at the Himayatnagar, Golconda and Karwan Sahu sub post offices.
