Tamil Nadu Retired Government Employees Association today demanded scrapping of the Pension Scheme which has come into force from April 2003, claiming that it was not beneificial to the pensioners.
The new scheme was just like a 'chit fund scheme' and the government should take steps to revert back with old system for the benefit of more than eight lakh pensioners, association President K Gangadharan told reporters here.
Gangadharan, here to participate in the eighth State level Delegartes conference scheduled for tomorrow, said most of the demands of pensioners were based on the Central government pensioners demands and the state was also extending such benefits on similar lines.
He charged that the government was not extending benefits to all family pensioners and legal heirs as directed by Supreme Court in 2013.
Other major demands of pensioners include raising the Medical Insurance scheme coverage to Rs.Four lakh from Rs. two lakh, monthly medical allowance to Rs.1,000, and the family security fund to Rs 1.50 lakh, he said.
The future course of action on their demands will be decided in tomorrow's meeting Gandagharan said.
