NGGOA gears up to join all India strike

Following large scale protest from the central government employees’ organizations all over the country, consequent upon the unilateral decision of the Govt. of India to implement the 7th Central Pay Commission recommendations without any improvement as sought for by the Staff Side, a high level meeting was held in New Delhi late in the evening of 30.06.2016 which was attended by Shri Rajnath Singh, Home Minister, Shri Arun Jaitley, Finance Minster, Shri Suresh Prabhu, Railway Minister and Shri Manoj Sinha, Minister of State for Railways representing Govt. of India and Shri Shiv Gopal Mishra (Railway), Shri M.Raghavaiah (Railway), Shri K K N Kutty (Confederation of Central Govt. Employees & Workers) and Shri C.Srikumar (Defence Employees) representing National Joint Council of Action of Central Government employees.
In the meeting, the Staff Side representatives (NJCA) expressed their strong protest and anguish against the decision of the Govt. of India not to consider any increase in the Minimum Wages and Fitment formula, two main demands which were placed before the Empowered Committee of Secretaries headed by the Cabinet Secretary which examined the recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission. Ministers representing the Govt. of India have proposed to refer the issue of Minimum Wage and Fitment formula to a Committee for reconsideration.
Shri K K N Kutty, President, Confederation of Central Govt. Employees & Workers who attended the meeting with the Ministers yesterday night at New Delhi informed the Non-Gazetted Govt. Officers’ Association that the proposed STRIKE by Central Govt. employees will take place from 11th July, 2016 as proposed earlier if no favourable solution to the issues raised by the Staff Side is materialized.
In the meanwhile, an emergency meeting of the Central Executive Committee of the Non-Gazetted Govt. Officers’ Association has been convened for 2nd July, 2016 to decide and chalk out the programmes to be organised in Andaman Nicobar Islands in support of the national-wide indefinite strike of central government employees from 11th July, 2016.
