India Post is celebrating week long “National Postal Week” commencing from 9th October 2015 which is also celebrated as World Post Day all over the world. The week long celebration will end on 15th October 2015.
The idea of World Post Day is to create awareness about the role of Postal sector in its contribution to social and economic development of the country and everyday life of the people. The celebration of the Postal Week is aimed at generating broader awareness about the role of India Post among public and media at National level.
Further it aims to enhance and improve customer relationship and also to popularize the initiatives taken by the Department. On this occasion, the Odisha Postal Circle is undertaking the following different activities in each day of the week like organizing meeting , workshop, visit of school children to Post Office, Philatelic bureau and RMS offices.

10th October 2015- Savings Bank day
12th October 2015- Mail day
13th October 2015 – Philately day
14th October 2015- PLI day
15 th October 2015- Business Development day
The World Post Day is being celebrated today to commemorate the establishment of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) in 1874 in the Swiss capital Berne.
It was declared as World Post Day by the UPU Congress held in Tokyo in 1969 and since then, it is celebrated all over the world to highlight the importance of the postal services.
